Given that your RV comes with you through all kinds of weather to many different environments, it’s not surprising that it can be dirty when you return home from a trip. Interior cleaning is important, of course, but so is washing the exterior of your RV. Removing built-up grime and dirt can not only make your RV look better but can also reveal maintenance issues and prevent your rig from falling into disrepair. Here’s what you need to do to thoroughly wash your RV.
Pressure-Wash and Scrub
A pressure-washer will make swift work of your RV’s exterior. You can spray the camper down from top to bottom and watch the dirt disappear. You can also use a standard garden hose with a sprayer attachment and a telescoping handle brush to scrub more difficult dirt and debris away.
Detail Work
A hard-bristle brush can help you clean the frames around windows, the rims of your tires, and other tricky areas. You’ll want to use a glass cleaner and paper towels on mirrors and windshields. Some areas may require you to use a gentle sponge to carefully wipe away grime without damaging the surface.
Clean the Roof
You’ll probably be able to reach the roof of your RV with a ladder, but it’s good to have someone spot you below to make sure you don’t fall. Wear shoes with good traction so you can stand on the wet roof. A brush with a telescoping handle and dish soap mixed with water in a bucket can help you wash your camper’s roof section by section, rinsing completely when you’re done and allowing it to dry in the sun. If your roof is made of rubber, you’ll need a special solution to clean it.
